Elliptical Door Swing

The unique design incorporates a top door guide that automatically folds away from the opening and stacks parallel to the sidewall to provide unobstructed entry. The upshot is door outswing projection is reduced by approximately 45% for a typical 36-in. wide opening. 


Glazing Gives Downtown LA Added Glitz

One of the latest additions to the downtown Los Angeles skyline is Metropolis—an expansive mixed-use development aimed at redefining luxury urban living. Developed by Greenland USA and designed by Gensler, Metropolis encompasses 6.3 acres of real estate, and features three residential towers, a hotel, a 60,000-sq.-ft. retail pavilion and high-end restaurants. A wide variety of architectural glazing systems were needed to help improve the function, safety and aesthetics of the new, ultramodern complex.


New Storefront in Town

With its polyamide struts and advanced internal insulation, CRL-U.S. Aluminum’s new Mojave Series advanced thermal storefront and entrance systems is just 1.75 in. in depth, yet meets rigorous California Title 24 requirements. Compatible with a wide range of locking and mounting hardware, the product is ideal for upgrading existing entrances. With a center-glazed 2 in. × 4.5 in. thermal frame, the system accommodates 1-in. insulating glass units.


‘Cliff House’ Features Modern Renovation

Maine’s Cliff House Resort underwent a modern renovation that included aesthetics, safety and function, while reigning in captivating views of the Atlantic Ocean. After 140 years in operation, Cliff House Resort in York, Maine, closed to undergo a complete renovation. Designed by architectural firms Cooper Carry and TruexCullins, the resort reopened in July 2016. The result is a world-class retreat that offers rich historical character while reflecting a contemporary seaside lifestyle. To enhance the aesthetics, safety and function of the resort, glass railing systems were provided.

Expedia CruiseShipCenters’ new corporate headquarters—with its nautical theme—features a collaborative environment. Expedia CruiseShipCenters recently moved to a new corporate headquarters in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Designed by Gensler, the 28,497–sq.–ft. facility features a nautical theme that coincides with the company’s core services. Expedia’s goal was to create an open, collaborative environment so Gensler designed the interior with several glass-wall partition systems.
