At the new, 25-story, luxury 3Eleven high-rise in downtown Chicago, Vitro’s Solarban 60 has contributed LEED credits toward energy optimization. The glass blocks 62% of total solar energy while allowing 70% of visible light to pass through, which is considered an ideal mix of energy savings and visibility. FitzGerald Architects specified the glazing for the tower’s floor-to-ceiling vision glass. Meanwhile, laminated Solarban 60 Optigray glass, which is a light-bodied gray tint, was used on lower floors for noise insulation and to provide visual privacy from the train tracks that run next to the building.
