The three-story latilla shade canopy is a signature element of the U.S. Consulate General in Matamoros, Mexico. The team at Richärd Kennedy Architects designed the expansive outdoor awning to be constructed from tensioned PTFE fabric panels, White Sheerfill HT II, in a steel structure. The architectural membrane material provides cover from the harsh sun and diffuses light in a beautiful way during the day. It also offers a backlit luminosity at night.
