In 2019, San Francisco’s premier convention venue, Moscone Convention Center, was expanded and reimagined by Skidmore, Owings, Merrill and Mark Cavagnero Associates, transforming the once dark and disjointed center into a modern, light-filled series of buildings that seamlessly integrate into the surrounding cityscape.
The architectural team envisioned a façade that would generate a high level of curb appeal, while conveying depth and movement. To create this stunning, lightweight, three-dimensional façade, the design team tapped BOK Modern for their Enfold Wallscreen system.
The Enfold Wallscreen system that adorns the Moscone Convention Center, features an original, self-reinforcing, 3-story-tall scrim decorated in a custom diamond pattern gradient designed by SOM and painted in a white Kynar finish. The patented wallscreen system minimizes on-site labor, accelerates installation, and reduces overall costs, while offering custom patterns and shapes.
The panels can be directly mounted to the edge of the slab or other structure without the need for secondary supporting members.
