Moving Down Under

LOCATION:
Australia
CHALLENGE:

Two Australian airports needed new moving walkways, one from an airport to a new train station and the other in an updated terminal.

SOLUTION:

Currently installing the longest moving walks ever manufactured by the company, two 300-ft. ThyssenKrupp iwalks will link an elevated scenic Skybridge from Australia’s Perth Airport to a new train station being constructed. Another two 124-ft. skywalks are also being installed. “Right from the start and due to the iwalk’s shallow pit for the hovering slimline bridge, we identified it as an appropriate solution to providing an aesthetic benefit to the customer,” says Peter Walker, CEO, ThyssenKrupp.

Meanwhile at the Melbourne Airport, four iwalks were built inside Terminal 4. At 30% less weight than conventional solutions, the moving walks were installed within the existing structure without the need for a new pit.
